Blood sample collection instructionsUpdated a year ago
Introduction
We sell a range of blood tests, all of which use our clever, pain-free blood collection device to draw a sample of capillary blood. It is a much quicker and easier way to collect blood at home compared to the traditional finger prick collection method.
Instructions are included within all blood collection kits.
Here is an overview of what you'll need to do....
Register your sample(s)
- As a first step, please register your sample(s) using our online form here
- Remember to stick the printed code label to the blood sample tube - the lab cannot analyse your sample without it.
- If your blood test kit includes omega 3 you will need to register the number on the collection device tube AND the number on the omega 3 blood spot collection card.
Things to remember before you collect your sample(s):
- Read the instructions carefully before collecting your blood sample
- Watch the video below, which shows how to use our fast and painless blood collection device
- Do the test in the morning after fasting for 8 hours
- Drink a large glass of water at least 30 minutes before the test
- Fill the tube until the level of blood is well above the single line and ideally up to the point where the neck of the tube widens
- If you have ordered an omega 3 test kit, complete the blood spot test using the card provided
When do you get your results?
Typically turnaround times from receipt of the sample to publication on your dashboard are as follows:
- Main blood sample: 5-7 working days.
- Omega 3: 3 weeks. Samples take longer to analyse because a more time-consuming process is involved.
We will notify you when your test results have been uploaded to your dashboard. Your dashboard is where you can see how your blood test results have changed over time, hopefully trending into the optimal green zone.
